End of the Season

October 9, 2007

The last few big shows happened over the past couple of weekends close to home. Stuff happened that impacted my ability to go to the Ducktail run, and carried over to kill my ambition to attend the last few small shows in the area. If any of the other cruisers provide photographic evidence they actually put their rides in gear and went someplace I’ll post them. Otherwise this is the end of the season post.

Somewhat fitting to me as yesterday would have been my mothers 67th had she not passed away from cancer when she was 42. She is, unwittingly, responsible for my buying and working my tail off to restore the car below. She worked as a secretary for Al Packer Ford in Maryland when I was a tyke and bought a ’65 Mustang 2+2 Fastback, finally got rid of it just before we moved to Indiana in ’72. 25 years later I found a ’66, close enough, and came from the factory the same color as hers. So I bought it and went to work. 6 years later it looked like her car with the exception that her idiot kid put those gawdy white stripes on it and Centerline drag racing rims, built and I mean BUILT a 408 stroker engine to put in it with a Tremec 3550 5 speed followed up with a 3.89:1 9″ R.E. …testosterone took over finances…

Anyway what you see is part of how 2007 played out here in Northeast Indiana. See ya next year. And happy birthday mom.
